** COURSE POLICIES **

  • NO LIVE AMMUNITION will be allowed in the classroom. You may bring your cased firearm to class with you but please leave ammunition in your vehicle.
  • We reserve the right to refuse services, to anyone, for any reason.
  • We reserve the right to terminate instruction if Total CCW instructors deem a student’s cooperation or behavior to be unsatisfactory and/or unsafe. That student will be removed from class and forfeit any payments.
  • All courses will be filled on a first come basis through registration ONLY!
  • Course dates/locations may be changed/postponed, due to enrollment, weather conditions, and/or other events beyond our control.
  • Students not in attendance with no prior notice will forfeit their payments or may be subject to a $50 rescheduling fee.
  • Students requesting a refund for an already scheduled class date will be charged a $25 administrative processing fee.
  • Students may reschedule any class up to 7 days prior to the scheduled class date at no charge.
  • Students rescheduling a class within 7 days of the class date may be subject to a $25 rescheduling fee. You must call the office to reschedule any class.
  • Students rescheduling a class within 24 hours of the class date may be subject to a $50 rescheduling fee.
  • A handgun and ammunition will be available at an addition charge for the shooting qualification section.
  • Returned checks will be subject to an additional $35 service charge.

NRA personal protection outside the home​ - $250

COURSE GOAL: This course is designed to help develop the student’s knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective use of a concealed handgun for self-defense outside the home.


OVERVIEW: The NRA Personal Protection OUTSIDE The Home (PPOTH) is the next level up from NRA Personal Protection INSIDE the Home. This course is designed to build upon the training provided in the NRA Personal Protection INSIDE the Home course, which needs to be demonstrated by presenting a PPITH student completion certificate, or by passing the PPITH student test with a minimum score of 70% prior to the start of the course. The focus of this course is the effective use of a concealed handgun for self defense on the street. Included are chapters on concealment techniques and devices, presenting the handgun from concealment, utilizing cover and concealment outdoors.


PREREQUISITES: Completed NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home course; or complete a pre-course evaluation with the instructor where student is asked to demonstrate safe gun handling, shoot a series of five-shot groups, discuss the operations necessary to zero a pistol, and demonstrate how to properly clean a handgun.

  1. Hip shooting techniques with strong hand
  2. Moving rearward, stopping and shooting
  3. Standing to kneeling behind low barricade
  4. Standing to squatting behind low barricade
  5. Moving to low barricade kneeling or squatting
  6. From sitting to standing
  7. Standing, facing 90 degrees to target, turning left to shoot
  8. Standing, facing 90 degrees to target, turning right to shoot

COURSE COMPLETION: Students will be given feedback on their shooting exercises, and a certificate upon successful completion. Furthermore a written exam will be given at the end of the course. Throughout the course the instructor will use an individualized checklist for each student to ensure the coverage of course material, and absorption of the material being taught.
